The science bit: Age spots and hyper pigmentation contains melanin and diffuse redness contains haemoglobin.  The light is absorbed by the melanin in the pigmented area & the heat reaction caused breaks down the melanin in the keratinocytes.  A photo toxic reaction occurs in the melanin vesicles and the excess melanin turns darker before it comes away from the skin.  The light is also absorbed by the superficial blood vessels in the skin.  The heat reaction caused coagulates blood vessels, destroys protein in the wall of the vessel and stimulates collagen production.

Pre Care Advice

30 Days prior to treatment

• Do NOT sunbathe or use sunbeds

7 Days prior to treatment

• Avoid self-tanning products (only on the area that is to be treated)
• Do NOT bleach
• Do NOT use depilatory creams
• Do NOT use anti-inflammatory medications (including aspirin & ibuprofen)

4 Hours before treatment

• Do NOT smoke

Post Care Advice

30 – 60 Days after the Ellipse Light Treatment

• Avoid sun exposure or sun beds
• Wear SPF+30 or Higher

24 – 48 Hours after treatment

• No perfumed products or make-up
• No excessive heat e.g saunas, steam rooms or hot tubs
• No swimming or gym

7 – 10 Days after treatment

• No touching, picking or scratching the area

4 – 7 Days after treatment

• No anti-inflammatory medications (including aspirin & ibuprofen)

Please Note: Pure Aloe Vera gel must be used for the next 48 hours after the treatment if any reaction persists.
